Shuffle names, tasks, questions, or any line-separated list.

Quick guide

How to use the List Randomizer

  1. Enter or choose list (one item per line).
  2. Select Randomize list.
  3. Review the main result, supporting details, and calculation method.
  4. Copy the result or download generated files when that option is available.

What this tool does

Shuffle a line-separated list without uploading it. The tool uses a Fisher–Yates shuffle with crypto.getRandomValues so every remaining position has an unbiased chance of being selected.

Calculation method

  1. Split the submitted text into clean, non-empty entries.
  2. Walk backward through the list and draw an unbiased random earlier position.
  3. Swap the two entries until the complete ordering has been randomized.

Example: randomize a four-item agenda

Input: Research, Draft, Review, Publish

Result: A result such as Review, Research, Publish, Draft

All original entries remain present exactly once; only their order changes.

Practical uses

  • Presentation order
  • Task queues
  • Quiz questions
  • Participant lineups

Accuracy tips and common mistakes

  • Keep one entry per line when an item contains commas.
  • Duplicate input entries remain duplicates after shuffling.
  • Copy the randomized list before running the tool again.
