Random Letter Generator

Generate one or many random letters with case and repetition controls.

Quick guide

How to use the Random Letter Generator

  1. Enter or choose how many letters?, letter case, repetition.
  2. Select Generate letters.
  3. Review the main result, supporting details, and calculation method.
  4. Copy the result or download generated files when that option is available.

What this tool does

This generator draws letters with the browser cryptography API, which avoids the predictable patterns produced by Math.random. Choose the number of letters, letter case, and whether the same letter may appear more than once.

Calculation method

  1. Build the allowed alphabet from the selected uppercase, lowercase, or mixed-case option.
  2. Draw unbiased random indexes with crypto.getRandomValues.
  3. Remove each selected letter from the pool when repeats are disabled.

Example: five uppercase letters without repeats

Input: Count: 5; Case: Uppercase; Repetition: No repeats

Result: A result such as Q, B, M, T, H

Every run can differ. Because repeats are disabled, no letter appears twice and the maximum useful count is the size of the selected alphabet.

Practical uses

  • Classroom letter practice
  • Word-game prompts
  • Fair alphabetical assignments
  • Writing and brainstorming exercises

Accuracy tips and common mistakes

  • Allow repeats when drawing more characters than the alphabet contains.
  • Use mixed case only when uppercase and lowercase should count as distinct outcomes.
  • Record the result before generating again if you need an audit trail.
